Minutes for the 1/18/2022 St Paul Parish Council

1.   Meeting came to order at 6:40 p.m.  with 9 parishioners and Fr, Moreno
2.    Fr Moreno gave us the opening prayer
3.    Sharon read the minutes of the 10/19/21 meeting.  Billy Don made a motion to accept; Scott second; motion carried
4.    Old Business:

•  The I Give Catholic raised $120.  It was suggested that next year that someone would be  in charge of this
• There are no legal issues in renting out the rectory. But, Airbnb is ruled out.  The Building  Dept of the Diocese is checking out the structure.  We must have control of renters.  The building must be up to code and cleaned up.  The electrical needs to be checked out.  Danielle advised that she would to check on it and get with the local inspector.  The carpet needs replacing. 
•  We own the cross at Mt. Carmel.  Danielle will get James to evaluate the structure. Then funding begins.    Bob Lee, the pastor at First United Methodist Church, advised they have $5,000 to donate. Suggestions to reach out to the local churches, put an article in the local paper.  It was suggested to go solar instead of electric for cost savings.
• If anyone knows of someone home-bound, hospital, etc., let our Care Ministry know and they can be visited and receive communion.  Patty Belt advised that she would like to join the team.
• On our wish list, clearer PA system.  Danielle will have James look into it.  Ceiling fans in the church.  Roy Cheney was suggested to check our electrical and Bryan’s Plumbing for the plumbing.  Pam will check with Troy about the cost of a metal roof for the rectory and parish hall.

5.  New Business:

•  Pam would like to change our monthly social back to the 1^st Sunday of each month starting Feb 6, 2022.  It was agreed to change.
• Father explained about the use of the Latin Mass.  Latin is the Mother tongue of the  Church.  Latin meanings never change.  It was also asked about the hand position with the Our Father.  The priest is the only one to extend hands and the Deacon and parishioner hands are folded.
•  Pam advised that she asked Nathan what it would cost for him to trim the shrubs at the church and it would be $200.  Father advised this would be good and parishioner can help with cleaning up.  Pam advised that we have clean-up twice a year. 

6.  Father passed out financial numbers from July thru December 2021.  We are in good shape.  A copy is with these minutes.

• Father advised that there is a circle on the altar stone and it is always a relic of a Saint.  He was curious if anyone knew who it could be.  A suggestion was that of St. Paul.
• The Cross that is used for Good Friday will be coming back to St Paul
• An idea was given about having our Sunday Mass at 7 or 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.  There was   some discussion and no final decision was made.

7.  Next meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. with a potluck
