Joint Pastoral/Financial Council Meeting August 27, 2020

Agenda: General Financial Information Maintenance and Parish Care Projects St. Jude Thaddeus Endowment Fund Upcoming Matters
Call to Order: 7:00p - Meeting called to order with opening prayer by Fr. Khoi.
FINISHED: Installation of a second 72” fan in the sanctuary and LED emergency light fixtures for tor the Education Building by Willen Electric. ($1,564.33)
PLANNED: Screen over the Parish Hall’s rear gutters.
St. Jude Thaddeus Endowment Fund
$5,000 from the parish and $5,000 from the estate of Francyne Anderson to open the Endowment Fund. It is restricted for construction and maintenance purposes of the Parish buildings.
It will be joined as a part of an investment pool of the Advancement Foundation (fixed interest rate vs. market changes).
Money can be sent directly to the Advancement Foundation with the memo line and/or instruction directed for “St. Jude Thaddeus Building and Maintenance Quasi-Endowment Fund.”
They will provide a link to put on our website to direct to the giving page.
Annual contribution reports will be made by Advancement Foundation to donors – not the Parish.
To withdraw money, the Parish Priest, with the approval of the Finance Council, can request 5% of the fair market value of the investment assets). If more is needed, it will have to be approved by the Foundation’s Board of Directors (after the request is approved by the council).
Earnings will be reinvested into the Fund if there is no distribution request.
Contributions are tax-free. However, distribution is taxed. Quarterly reports are available through the Fundriver service.
Father asked members to vote in regards to moving forward with setting up the endowment fund. All members voted in favor of setting up the endowment fund.
Upcoming Matters
Religious Education classes will be on-line. Confirmation and First Reconciliation/Communion classes will have regular check-ins by catechists.
Fall Festival: The Diocese has not made any decisions about in-person gatherings and parish activities.
Father asked if the Fall Festival should be skipped this year due to COVID restrictions. Members voted, and all were in favor of skipping this year and resuming next year.
Fr. Khoi will be on vacation from September 6 until 18.
Fr. Thu Nguyen, the Director for Liturgy and Worship, will cover the weekend Masses for September 12 and 13.
Dcn. Dave will have the Liturgy of the Word services for weekdays.
