General Pastoral Vision
Fr. Khoi reviewed the three-year vision focus:
First year (FY2015-2016) – Community
Second Year (FY2016-2017) – Discipleship
Third Year (FY2017-2018) – Service
Religious Education Program Goals
Double the number of participants in our youth programs
Provide and connect our youth with more deanery and diocesan-based events
More family-oriented events.
More short adult formation programs and monthly catechesis nights.
Religious Education Discipleship – Focused Initiatives
Encouragement and better application of Children’s stewardships within the classroom – teach children to give their time and talent, in addition to their treasure.
Confirmation and youth programs
Volunteer at least 2 times per year at Faith mission.
Fr. introduced Justin Veitenheimer, our new Youth & Family Coordinator.
Justin wants programs for all ages, but really get the 3rd-5th involved. This will hopefully carry through as they become older.
Confirmation retreat this year – closing Mass will be at St. Jude.
Justin will be coordinating more Saturday activities for the youth and families. We want to get parents excited about getting their children to youth activities.
Fall Festival – October 30
Goal: $15,000 net profit.
Meal tickets have been printed. We will have a booth at Friendship Festival October 1. A suggestion was made that for every meal ticket bought at the booth, the person would get a free raffle ticket.
Raffle tickets are out for pickup.
Tina suggested having different families sponsor baskets for auction, i.e. she would do a beauty basket, someone else may do chocolate, or a spa basket, etc. These would be in addition to our other auction items.
Fr. also suggested we work with local restaurants to do a Building Fund night – whereby the restaurant would donate back 10% to the charity (or whatever their policy is). Elizabeth said Texas Roadhouse will provide peanuts to sell for fundraisers.
T-Shirts – committee voted for new shirts to be sold. A small group will get with Keith at Sign-on to design shirt.
Other business
Tina Giger asked about doing another Parish Directory – but making it an online version. This will take time to plan.
Adult Bible study and faith sharing beginning September 14 @ 7:00, and again on September 15 @ 9:00 am.
