Christ the King Pastoral Council Meeting – May 2023
CHRIST THE KING CATHOLIC CHURCH MINUTES OF THE MEETING
The 14th Parish Council meeting was held on Tuesday, May 9th, 2023, at 6:30 PM in the Parish Hall. The meeting was called to order, and Marilyn led us in prayer. Marlene Jones read the minutes of the last meeting, which was held in February. We did not meet in March and April due to conflicting circumstances.
We were highly encouraged to read the chapters assigned by Father in our Forming Intentional Disciples book so that we may have an informed discussion at our next meeting.
Our Lenten Baby Bottle project raised a little over $300.
Father has submitted the paperwork for the grant. Just waiting to hear back.
Tuesday, June 27th, at 6:30 PM, is Parishioner Appreciation Day. Father will be the speaker on Stewardship. There will be a covered dish meal. Amy has graciously volunteered Ray to cook the meat; all parishioners will be asked to bring a side dish.
We had several discussions on parish fundraisers. For any of these ideas to be successful, we will need the participation of ALL Parish members.
The following ideas were tentatively put on the calendar.
Saturday, July 1st, is Iowa Park's 4th of July celebration. It is being held at Gordon Lake from 10:00 AM till ????. Mary and Ronnie will head a committee, and Sheri and Jason will be co-chairs. We will be selling bottled water. There will be a schedule for parishioners to sign up to work.
Sunday, August 27th, there will be a fellowship ice cream social for a back-to-school kick-off.
The Pastor Chili Challenge will be held on Saturday, September 9th. This will be our BIG Parish fundraiser, so all hands on deck for this one. We will need a committee to take over this one.
Quarter Madness was presented to us by Sheri. This sounds like a really fun event for the whole family. Tentatively set up for February 2024. Details will follow as the date comes closer.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40, followed by a prayer.
