Christ the King Pastoral Council Meeting – February 2022
CHRIST THE KING CATHOLIC CHURCH
MINUTES OF THE MEETING
The 5th Parish Council meeting was called to order by Sheri Kennedy on February 8th, 2022, at 6:30 PM in the Parish Hall. Father Moreno led a prayer, and Marlene Jones read the minutes.
The following items were presented and discussed:
We received a final bid from Ellett A/C and Heating. It was also suggested to get a bid from James Lane Heating and Air Conditioning and maybe an additional 3rd bid to compare prices. Father announced that the Parish received a generous donation of $30,000.00 from an anonymous donor. We would still need to come up with an additional $5,000.00 to offset the cost of the units for the church. This amount may vary depending on the other bids. Father is still applying for the grant to help with the price for the new units for the Parish Hall. Sheri is contacting James Lane for the bid.
There are still no worthy applicants for the youth minister. The prior applicant was not a Catholic.
We had 34 volunteer spots filled for the ministry needs, which was awesome. Hopefully, all will follow thru as volunteers.
Marilyn could not attend the meeting to update us on what she found out about replacing the window treatments.
Donna Lindeman presented the ins and outs of putting on a Parish Garage sale as a fundraiser. She has overseen the one at OLQP and has for several years. They have made anywhere between $3000 to $5000. She made suggestions on what to accept and what not to accept. We would start collecting items on a Wednesday morning thru Thursday evening and hold the sale from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday and from 7:00 AM to 1:30 PM on Saturday. Faith Mission will come and pick up the leftovers. It will be a lot of work but can be done. The majority agreed that it would be better not to have it simultaneously as the Citywide Garage Sale not to have to compete for business. It was suggested that we could also include a bake sale with it if we wanted to. Maybe early fall would be a good time for this to take place.
Instead of the usual rice bowl collection, the Lenton “Baby Bottle” Project was agreed upon. The money collected would benefit The Center (the old pregnancy crisis center). Marlene Jones will oversee the project and make a presentation after Mass on February 27th. It was suggested that Amy might design and print the labels and posters. (We all agreed that she is the best woman for the job). Please, Amy!!!!
We suggested putting the Lenten Fish Fry on the back burner since we are close to Lent and have not much time to prepare. We will address this at the next meeting.
We ran out of time to hold our Parish Planning Session. The items that will be addressed at our next meeting are:
