Joint Pastoral/Financial Council Meeting

Call to Order:
7:00p - Meeting called to order with opening prayer by Fr. Khoi.

I.General Financial Information

• Total Checking: $13,269.18
• Total Savings: $77,735.41 (+$4,186.65)
  • General: $60,099.21 (+$2,147.84) (1.50% interest)
  • Maintenance: $17,636.20 (+$2,038.81) ($1.50% interest)

II.Finished Maintenance Projects

• Repair of floor works at the Education Building.
• Upgraded small fluorescent bulbs to LED lights inside the Church and            Education building.
• Stripped and sealed the Parish Hall kitchen floor by the Knights.

D.Significant PAID Projects ($6,842.36)

• Waxing of Parish Hall main floor ($3,300) by Mamie Kennedy.
• Removal of cottonwood tree by Roger Whitaker ($2,500).
• Purchase of lawn care equipment from Ace Hardware ($1,042.36)

III.Upcoming Matters

• Bell tower, Church facia and interior wall repair work.
• Ceiling fans in the Church Sanctuary – opinions?
  • Council Members were concerned about the aesthetics as it pertained to the placement of the fans. Father Khoi led those concerned to the sanctuary to give a better explanation as to the location and placement.
  • With this new information and a better visual understanding, Council Members agreed to move forward with the installation of two fans.

IV.Quarterly Service Project ideas:

• Father asked the Council if we should move forward with a fall service project. 
• Council voted to move forward with a service project after the Fall               Festival.  The date and type will be discussed at the next Pastoral Council Meeting.

V.Fall Cleaning Day (9/28) beginning at 9a

• Parishioners will form four teams in order to clean the church effectively.  One team will work in the sanctuary, one in the parish hall, another in the educational building, and the fourth will work on the church grounds.
  • Church – Sanctuary main aisles, Office main areas, and Chapel.
  • Two parishioners have volunteered to bring their carpet shampooing equipment to assist with carpet cleaning.
• Education Building – Classroom walls and desks.
• Parish Hall – Kitchen cleanup and good table wipe downs.
• Outside Grounds – Tree branch and hedge trimming.
  • Francis Hamre will be trimming various trees throughout the church grounds and removing the tree near the concrete sign on the west side of the church building.

VI.Parish Fall Festival (10/27/19)

1.Serving from 10:30a to 1:30p

2.Notes from Michael Richter:

• Propose that we discontinue the raffle. Can still ask for donations and list the big donors as “Corporate Sponsors.”
  • Council voted to keep the raffle.
• Presale of Dinner tickets for $10, focusing on non-parishioners. Can each Pastoral/Finance Council member sell 10 tickets per person?
  • Council voted to move forward with the presale of the dinner tickets but, do so at the regular price of $12.
• Will check the price of wholesale companies.  Plan to buy sausage from    Rhineland KCs again, and turkeys from United.
• Silent auction ideas needed.  All help is appreciated.

VII.Questions, Remarks, Suggestions, and Comments

1. Mike Tugman indicated there may be some confusion with parishioners as it pertains to stewardship envelopes and special collections.
Father Khoi will make an announcement to parishioners to help eliminate any further confusion.
