JOINT PASTORAL/FINANCIAL COUNCIL MEETING June 2, 2016
PRESENT: Fr. Khoi, Susie Nix, Susan Tugman, Margie Poole, Dave Poole, Mike Richter, Tom Peoples, Elizabeth Casteen, Greg Leonard, Linda Gibson, Heather Whited, Winona Peoples, Janelle Dolan, Larry McMahill, Bob Brady, Mary Brady, Tammy Gerstner, and two new Seminarians Ben Grothouse and Linh Nguyen
Fr. Khoi introduced our two Seminarians: Ben Grothouse and Linh Nguyen.
Pergola – Bob Carroll is coordinating this project. The Marian Statue will be placed there.
WiFi integration – Dave Poole is checking on options.
Fr. Khoi reviewed Fiscal Year financial information. When Fr. Khoi came, St Jude had $65,000 in the General Savings Account. It has been built up to $90,109.54.
We have $13,764.03 in our General Checking account.
$11,301.83 in the Maintenance Savings Account.
Capital Campaign – We have $87,900 in Pledges, $36,128 in the account as of June 2. 49 families are participating as of June 2.
Review of Summer Activities (kids need to bring $25 for the Bowling Alley and Trampoline Park activities).
Burgers at the Bowling Alley on June 25.
Tacos at the Trampoline Park on July 23.
Movie Night at the Theater on August 20
JAM will meet 1 x per month.
SNL Youth will meet 2x per month
Father reported the Seminarians will be initiating programs for the Parish during their stay. More info to come.
Keeping Children Safe sessions for adults and teens will be offered this Wednesday, June 8. All Vocational Bible School volunteers and Lay Ministers must have this training, and be current.
Religious Education Program Goals:
Double participation in the youth program
Provide and connect our youth with more Deanery and Diocesan based events
Have more family oriented events
More short adult formation programs and monthly catechesis nights on different topics
Work with Catholic Charities on programs which focus on
Financial Planning
Life Skills
Communication Skills
Fr. Khoi went back over his general pastoral vision:
Year 1 – Community
Year 2 – Discipleship
Year 3 – Service
Discipleship focuses
Liturgy
Adoration at the end of Mass once a month
Liturgical Ministries – speakers from the Diocese and provide workshops for those doing Ministries.
Religious Education
Encourage children’s stewardship. Not just giving money, but also their time and talent.
Strengthen the Confirmation and Youth program by requiring services programs.
Provide support materials and programs for families
Marriage enrichment
Refocus program
Fr. Khoi has set Advent and Lenten mission dates. Fr. Jack will do the Lenten Mission. He will talk about his time in Guatemala.
Stewardship
Provide a better awareness and initiatives to give back to Catholic and local charities.
Proper planning and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
Improve our connection with the Diocese and our sister parishes - Inter-Parish Council.
Our next Fiscal Year begins July 1, 2016.
September 1, 2016, will be our next joint Pastoral/Financial Council meeting at 7:00.
